I bought a used Apple Ipod Shuffle Gen.3 off of ebay for my youngest daughter. How do I get the songs?

off of it and put new songs on? I am completely tech illiterate. It cam with a dock, and I know to plug that into the computer, other than that...I know nothing! If anyone can help me, I'd be grateful.
