Will I ever be able to trust my Lab/husky mix?

He is just a little over a year old. We almost always crate him when we leave the house. I hate it so much but if we leave him in the house just for even a half hour he finds stuff and ruins it. We tried to leave him for about 20 minutes about 2 months ago and he got ahold of a picture frame and tv remote and a sweat shirt I had laying on the couch. I would love to one day be able to just leave him and go. It's funny cause he knows if I get dressed in pj or sweats or something in the morning he know he won't have to go in his crate. But he knows if I get dressed up he's going to have to go in the crate and he runs and tries to hide. Thanks all. We have been working on him with training him. But this is one thing I can't break!
